The plot revolves around Andy Dufresne who is convicted of life prison for murdering his wife and her lover. Though Andy pleads guilty because he does not believe the crime was committed by him.
The movie takes a turn when he forms a friendship with and a guy named Red inside.
The movie is all about time, patience and loyalty and shows the form of brutality that takes places inside the prison and how Andy adapts this lifestyle for the betterment of his life. This is surely one of the movies to watch before 40.

American Beauty (1999)

Another classics made in 90s era is the movie Amercian Beauty. This movie starring Kevin Spacy in the lead role is a treat to watch. The plot revolves around a mid-aged magazine executive Lester Burnham who is done with his life and looking for a new fresh excitement which will take him out of his depressing life. The story shows how despite having a stable life he is unhappy with every aspect of it including his marriage. As time passes by and Lester starts looking forn new source of enjoyment his family also undergoes major changes affecting his family on a serious note.

300 (2006)

The war genre will remain in complete always if 300 is not in the list. 2. Made in 2006, this American period action is based on
Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s comic series of 1998. Movie starring
Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham, Dominic West and more will make sure you jump out of your seat out of excitement in every 10 minutes.
The story dates back to the war that existed between Persia, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Greece in 480 B.C. The plot revolves around King Leonidas who along with his outnumbered 300 Spartans fought a respectful fight against the invading Persians. The journey of how 300 Spartans fought more than 300000 soldiers and that too all without a single ruck on their faces is an inspiring moment we all should cherish. So it definitely comes under the list of movies to watch before 40.

Kill Bill (2003)

This list is incomplete if it does not includes a creation by Quentin Tarantino in it. The movie is divided into 2 volumes, the first one includes the story of a pregnant bride who loses everyone at her wedding rehearsals including her new husband when her former husband and the father of her child unexpectedly arrives orders to kill everyone present here.
While volume 2, follows when “the bride”, an assassin wakes from a coma and seeks all her way to take vengeance from her ex-lover. She takes an oath to murder each and every one of them who ruined her life and made her lose her unborn child.
If you are into his movie so far, just give it a shot. Trust me you will not be disappointed at all.

Shutter Island (2010)

There is no doubt how one hell of an excellent actor Leonardo DiCaprio is and among his brilliant works, Shutter Island is my personal favorite. The movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio along with Emily Mortimer, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley is surely something you shouldn’t miss to watch.
The story is about U.S. Marshal named Teddy Daniels and his new partner who investigate the strange disappearance of a patient from a hospital named Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. As the investigation moves further, Teddy finds himself trapped in his own dark fears which makes it even more difficult for him to stay alive on the island.
The movie is an old fashioned thriller which is full of twists and turns which will surprise you with every aspect of the film is unfolded. This is undoubtedly one of the movies to watch before 40.
